BROOKLYN, N.Y. (March 27, 2010) – The Saint Francis men's tennis team stumbled in their first Northeast Conference match up of the season, falling to St. Francis NY 5-2 on Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn.
Peter Dietrich (Halifax, Nova Scotia/Citadel) (Halifax, N.S./The Citadel) and
Andres Rosa (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio la Piedad) (Carolina, PR/Colegio de la Piedad) took a victory at No. 3 doubles by a score of 6-5, but couldn't win the doubles point as Elahn Pogue (St. Catherines, Ontario/West Park Secondary) and Nathaniel Fleming (Gas City, Ind./Mississinewa) fell at No. 1 doubles, as did Steven Child (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster County Day) and Joe Bellisimo (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway HS) in the No. 2 spot.
Pogue defeated Danhaldi Robinson 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 at No. 1 singles, while Child also earned a victory at No. 4 singles over Edward Alontaga 6-3,6-2.
The Flash will continue with competition in the NEC when they take on Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J., on April 10.
