LORETTO, Pa. (April 15, 2010) - The Saint Francis men's volleyball team will wrap up their regular season this Saturday when they take on the #11 Ohio State Buckeyes, but all eyes will be on another Big Ten locale for the playoff fate of the Red Flash.
Some 340 miles to the east of the Red Flash's clash with the Buckeyes, the Penn State Nittany Lions and the George Mason Patriots will duke it out. Should George Mason win, the Red Flash will host the Springfield Pride on April 24 in the opening round of the EIVA Tournament; should Penn State win, the Red Flash will instead travel to Springfield on that same day.
With that outcome out of the Flash's hands, they remain singularly focused on the Buckeyes, whom they defeated earlier this year 3-1 in the biggest upset in Saint Francis history. Jordan Varee (Conneautville, PA/Conneaut Valley) (Conneautville, Pa./Conneaut Valley) posted 20 kills and five aces, and Nick Rivett (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) had a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs.
