Former Nebraska Football Player Aaron Davis Scheduled to Speak To Saint Francis Student-Athletes

LORETTO, Pa. (Aug. 19, 2010) – Saint Francis University Director of Student-Athlete Development John Krimmel announced on Thursday that former University of Nebraska football player Aaron Davis will speak to Red Flash student-athletes on September 14.

Davis, who was a member of Nebraska's 1994 national championship football team, is author of the inspiring book “10 Minute Truths,” and co-author of two other books. He is also President of Aaron Davis Presentations, Inc., which is a speaking and consulting firm that received the Chamber of Commerce's Outstanding Minority Owned Business award. Toastmasters International awarded Davis the Communication & Leadership Award as well. Additionally, Davis serves as the Chief Operations Officer for the Thomas Group.

He will speak to Red Flash student-athletes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at DeGol Arena. Media members are welcome to attend the presentation.

“Aaron is a very dynamic speaker and delivers a great message,” Krimmel said. “Saint Francis University is lucky to have him come to campus. When Aaron says it is not just 'another talk, it's an experience,' it truly is. We look forward to his presentation to over 400 student-athletes at Saint Francis.”

Davis resides in Nebraska with his wife Brooke, their two sons Aden and Keenon, and their daughter Niya.

Women's soccer player Maria Penksa, women's volleyball player Rachel Capizzi, football player Paul Print (Olmstead Twp., Ohio/Olmsted Falls), Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development Kelli Williams, NCAA CHOICES Grant Facilitator Kurt McGinnis and Krimmel all had the opportunity to hear Davis speak at the 2010 APPLE Conference, which took place in January, in Charlottesville, Va.

The conference is held annually and was developed by the Center for Alcohol and Substance Education (CASE) at the University of Virginia. It is the leading national training symposium dedicated to substance abuse prevention and health promotion for student-athletes and athletics department administrators. The goal of the APPLE Conference is to assist colleges in promoting student-athlete health and wellness by empowering teams of student-athletes and administrators to create an institution-specific action plan.
