LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 6, 2011) – Saint Francis University takes on Robert Morris Saturday in the first night game ever at Joe Walton Stadium.
At least two former members of the Colonials will be hoping Saint Francis knocks off Robert Morris it is first home game under the lights at Joe Walton Stadium. Colyn Haugh and Jake Nulph both sent their college playing days in Moon Township, Pa. wearing Blue and White with Red and learning from head coach Joe Walton. Haugh and Nulph will see their former coach again Saturday but this time they will be looking across the field at him from the visitor's sideline.
Nulph, an '05 graduate of Robert Morris, and Haugh, an '07 graduate of Robert Morris are now both coaches with instate conference rival Saint Francis. Both earned undergraduate and graduate degrees while at RMU and both worked on the Colonials coaching staff but now both will look to beat Robert Morris in the Colonials homecoming game.
Haugh started two seasons at Robert Morris and earned second-team all-conference honors in 2006 after collecting five sacks and eight tackles for loss. Following earning his undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Marketing, Haugh joined the Colonial coaching staff in the fall of '07 as a graduate assistant. Saturday will be the first time Haugh has ever stepped into Joe Walton Stadium as a visitor.
“It is going to be weird walking the far sideline and looking across the field,” Haugh said. “I'm excited to get back there and be on the field again.”
Nulph took a more circuitous route to the Red Flash. After spending four years at Robert Morris, he went to Allegheny College wear he turned around the Gators defense and guided them to an 8-2 record in 2009 as the defensive back coach.
Following Wednesday night's practice coach Nulph talked with SFUathletics.com about returning to Robert Morris for its first ever night game at Joe Walton Stadium.
