Hurd puts in strong performances at Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 1, 2011) – Sophomore Alexis Hurd (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) highlighted the Saint Francis University women's track & field team's early performances at the 46th Annual Colonial Relays recording a pair of top-five finishes.

In the semifinals of the 100m dash, Hurd ran a 12.33 – the fifth-fastest time of the day – to qualify for Saturday's final. She also took third place in the 200m dash with a personal-best time of 24.88. The mark also stands as the second-fastest running of the event in school history.

Freshman Brittany Johnson (Vienna, Va./George C. Marshall) also put on a strong showing in the 200, compiling a 15th-place time of 25.62.

Rounding out the sprinters was sophomore Maura Jones (Frostburg, Md./Mountain Ridge), who earned 20th place in 400m dash, completing her lap in 59.28.

Sophomore Keishana LaRose (Brooklyn, N.Y./Acorn Community) represented the Red Flash in middle distance events, running the 800m in 2:14.76 (17th place).
