Box Score
CHICAGO, Ill. (Jan. 28, 2012) – Early season woes continue for the Saint Francis University men's volleyball team as they fell in straight sets (22-25, 22-25, 16-25) to No. 14 Loyola-Chicago Saturday night in the windy city.
The Red Flash (1-6) kept things close in the first two sets against Loyola (5-5), losing by just three points in each of them. SFU knotted the score up late in each of the two sets but a few errors by the Flash and some kills when they were needed by the Ramblers put them up by two heading into the third set. With the score set at 10 all in the third, Loyola started to pull away and put the set and match out of reach for the Flash.
Sophomore
Logan Patterson (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) was the only member of the Red Flash to reach double figures in kills as he put down 10. Mark Kochan had a successful game in terms of hitting, converting six kills on eight attempts for a .625 attack percentage. Senior setter
Ryan Williams (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) collected 32 assists in the contest while fellow classmate
John Skarupa (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegehny) reached four service aces.
Saint Francis returns home following a five-game road trip this Thursday Feb. 2 for a matchup with Mount Olive at 7 p.m. in DeGol Arena.
