BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 7, 2012) – The Saint Francis U women's volleyball team came from behind to win in four sets against St. Francis (NY), 15-25, 25-12, 25-13, 25-16.
The Red Flash improved to 7-12 overall and to an even 3-3 in Northeast Conference play, while the Terriers fell to 2-21 on the year and to 0-6 in conference play.
SFU started out slow and could not get into a rhythm in the first set. Once the second set started, the Flash started clicking on all cylinders and the final three sets were completely one-sided.
SFU jumped out to a commanding 7-1 lead in the second frame and SFNY was not able to recover. In the third set, SFU again jumped out to an early 11-7 lead after a kill from
Elizabeth Williams (North Bend, Ohio/Saint Ursula) and SFNY struggled to match the Flash.
In the fourth set, SFU switched some rotations up and the result was still the same. The Flash jumped out to an early lead and would not be tested again.
“Today was a much needed good result from us, we recovered really well from our hesitancy in the first set,” head coach Chuck Mullen said. “We settled down and played our game the rest of the match, our players did a great job of stepping up when they were called upon.”
Elizabeth Williams (North Bend, Ohio/Saint Ursula) was dominant for Saint Francis, she registered 17 kills and had a .484 hitting percentage.
Lauren Wingard (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) and Breanna Kochiinsky each added nine kills apiece and both recorded double-digit digs in the match.

Chelsea Easter (Burlington, Ontario, Canada/Notre Dame Roman Catholic) also recorded eight kills and five digs in the match.
Saint Francis will be away from Loretto for a short time as they travel to Fairleigh Dickinson and Sacred Heart next weekend.
