CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Feb. 18, 2012) – The Saint Francis University men's volleyball team fell to Harvard 3-0 (15-25, 21-25, 16-25) Saturday afternoon in Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association action, snapping a five-game win streak.
“Today was a complete reverse of last night where we had one of our best matches of the season to a poor match today,” head coach
Mike Rumbaugh said. “Congrats to Harvard's head coach, they scouted us very well and knew what we were doing more than we knew what they were doing. I thought
Ryan Williams (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) did a nice job of running the offense but Harvard just knew where to be and who to defend. We didn't fight back or push forward enough today to come out on top.”
The Red Flash (6-7, 3-1 EIVA) suffered through one of its worst statistical games of the season to the Crimson (7-2, 2-2 EIVA). SFU hit just .054 for the match, its second lowest hitting percentage of the year. Harvard hit .303 and had just 13 attack errors to SFU's 22.
Alex Kane (York, Pa./West York) registered nine kills to lead the Flash in that respective category, while Mark Kochan put up four total blocks and Williams had 23 assists.
Saint Francis returns to Loretto for a four-game homestand beginning next Friday Feb. 24 when they host George Mason for a 7 p.m. EIVA contest.
