HARRISONBURG, Va. (March, 18, 2012) – The Saint Francis University women's tennis team split a pair of Northeast Conference matches before dropping an interleague competition at James Madison, 7-0.  The Red Flash earned a 4-2 victory over Robert Morris before falling to Mount St. Mary's 6-1 on Saturday.

SFU's victory over the Colonials was not only its first league win of the season, but also its first over its in-state rival since 2010.

Due to time constraints, the singles came first against RMU with the Red Flash quickly finding itself in a 2-0 hole.  Freshman Shivani Patel (Leicestershire, England/Repton School), however, responded with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win at the no. 3 position. 

Patel's win set off a string of four straight for the Flash, continued by Lucy Jasso (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Instituto Potosino), Alex Sachs (Parkland, Fla./Stoneman Douglas) and Laura Husband (Dawson, Pa./Connellsville Area) to seal the comeback victory.

Mount St. Mary's led from start to finish, with the lone Flash point coming from Patel who finished the weekend with a team-best 2-1 mark in singles play.  Although the Mountaineers took the doubles point, the SFU no. 1 doubles pair of Sachs and Jasso earned its second win of the day with an, 8-3, decision.

In Sunday's match, the Dukes were able to pull out a shutout win to improve to 7-3 on the season.

The Red Flash returns to action on Saturday when it visits La Salle for a 1 p.m. match.
