BOX SCORE RADFORD, Va. (August 31, 2012) – At day one of the La Quinta Inn and Suites Highlander Invitational, the Saint Francis University women's volleyball team lost in three sets against Radford University.
The Red Flash (1-3) were evenly matched in the three sets, losing 19-25, 21-25, 19-25. The Highlanders (3-2) never let up in the final points of each set, even though SFU threatened in all three.
Senior middle hitter
Lauren Wingard (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) led the offensive attack for the Red and White, she had a team-high seven kills. Senior middle blocker
Elizabeth Williams (North Bend, Ohio/Saint Ursula) chipped in with six kills and two service aces.
Junior outside hitter
Breanna Kochinsky (Nicktown, Pa./Northern Cambria) and sophomore middle hitter
Kayla Jeckell (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) each had five kills apiece. Freshman middle hitter
Maria Cup (Chesterland, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) contributed with four kills of her own.
Junior setter
Logan Meinert (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) had a team-high seven digs and senior setter
Kierstin Kiser (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) led SFU with 17 assists in the match.
SFU will be back on the court at the Dedmon Center tomorrow as they face Murray State at 3 p.m. and The Citadel at 5 p.m.
