Saint Francis Travels to Delaware State for Tri-Match Tournament

LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 14, 2012)
– The Saint Francis University women's volleyball team will travel to Delaware State for a Tri-Match Tournament this weekend.
 
SFU will play the host, Delaware State, tomorrow at 1 p.m. and La Salle at 4 p.m.
 
RED FLASH NOTES:
 
Seniors Elizabeth Williams (North Bend, Ohio/Saint Ursula) and Lauren Wingard (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) lead Saint Francis, they have 89 and 88 kills, respectively. Williams also leads SFU with 18 service aces, followed closely by Wingard who has 17 so far in 2012.
 
Sophomore Alanna Blenkarn (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) has 241 assists on the year, an average of 8.93 per set. Junior Breanna Kochinsky (Nicktown, Pa./Northern Cambria) leads SFU with 97 digs. Freshman Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) has been an essential piece of the puzzle for the Red and White, she has 66 kills in just 25 sets played.
 
Saint Francis hopes to end their four-game losing skid, they will return to DeGol Arena Sept. 23 for the first Northeast Conference match of the season against Bryant at 1 p.m.
 
SCOUTING THE HORNETS:
 
The Hornets are 2-7 on the season with wins coming from Gardener-Webb and Saint Peter's. DSU started out losing the first four games of their schedule and they are currently on a two game slide.
 
Junior outside hitter Jessica Russell-Croucher leads the Hornets with 95 kills, averaging 2.88 per set.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
 
La Salle owns a 2-10 record thus far in 2012, with a win against Niagara, and a win over Rider Wednesday night.
 
The Explorers are led by senior outside hitters Samantha Tulskie and Kelly Scanlon, they have 126 and 125 kills this season, respectively.
 
FLASH FACTS:
 
-Elizabeth Williams (North Bend, Ohio/Saint Ursula) needs 10 block solos to become the all-time leader at Saint Francis

-Williams also needs just two block assists to climb into second all-time at SFU

-Brittany Stambaugh (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) needs 14 digs to become seventh all-time
