FULL RESULTS
ALIQUIPPA, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2013) – After a complete team performance, the Saint Francis University men's golf team won the Robert Morris University Colonial Classic held on Monday and Tuesday with a score of 589 (297-292).
The Red Flash' 36-hole total of 589 was the second lowest in tournament history. SFU's second round score of 292 tied the tournament record. The next closest competitor to Saint Francis was host, Robert Morris, which finished with a 608 (303-305).
Shane Crampton (London, Ontario, Canada/Saunders Secondary) finished second overall after a one-hole playoff to determine the medalist. Crampton posted a 146 (71-75) to lead the way for the Frankies.
Chris Stricek (Binghamton, N.Y./Windsor) was next on the leaderboard for SFU after totaling a 148 (76-72), good for a fourth place finish. Following in fifth place was
Kevin Fawcett (London, Ontario, Canada/Oakridge Secondary) who shot a 149 (73-76).
Edward Maruca (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) finished seventh after a two round total of 151 (81-70), the sophomore improved on his first round score by 11 strokes in the final round.
Jeff Chastel (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) posted a 152 (77-75) to round out the scoring golfers for SFU, placing tied for eighth.
Kyle Krout (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville),
Greg Ferguson (Altoona, Pa./Tyrone), and
Jeremy Merich (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) all competed as individuals. Krout finished tied for eighth with a 152 (77-75), Ferguson finished tied for 23rd with a 165 (83-82), and Merich placed 28th with a 172 (87-85).
Saint Francis wraps up its fall schedule on Oct. 19-21 at the St. Barnabas Health Classic hosted by Seton Hall.
