LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis football team continues its trek towards claiming at least a share of the NEC championship when Wagner comes to town for a noon kickoff tomorrow. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 as the NEC Game of the Week.
Â
The path is simple for Saint Francis (4-5, 2-2) to stake a claim to a portion of the NEC title. A Red Flash victory in each of the final two games clinches a share of the title for the first time in school history. A more circuitous – but attainable – route could see the Flash earn the conference's automatic berth into the FCS playoffs.
Â
Before any of that can be discussed, however, Saint Francis must deal with Dominique Williams and Wagner (2-8, 1-4). Williams is the fourth in the NEC and 18th in the nation with 1,032 rushing yards. He has six 100-yard games this season and has rushed for six touchdowns. He's rushed for 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons.
Â
"They have a tremendous running back that's going to be a great challenge for our defense," SFU head coach
Chris Villarrial said.
Â
Saint Francis has its own star running back in
Kyle Harbridge (Easton, Pa./Easton Area). The redshirt senior is just 82 yards shy of becoming the first Red Flash player to reach 4,000 career rushing yards. He's also just 63 yards shy of tying his 2011 school record for rushing yards in a season. He currently has 1,411 yards this season.

Â
The Saint Francis defense made three interceptions at Bryant last week, with two coming for linebacker
Brandon Small (Clairton, Pa./Clairton). He said it's the first time in his life he's had two interceptions in the same game.
Â
"The first one was a tip, the ball landed right in my hands," Small said. "The second one was me just running to the ball.
Mike Dennis (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) made a play on the ball and I was able to get under it."
Â
On the offensive side, the key for Saint Francis could be its continued success in the red zone that it has enjoyed in the past five games. After going 9-for-15 in the first four games of the year, the Red Flash is a perfect 11-for-11 in the last five contests with nine touchdowns on those 11 possessions. SFU is now fourth in the league in red zone offense.
Â
The ESPN3 cameras will have all the action starting at noon tomorrow.
