BOX SCORE ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (March 16, 2013) – The Saint Francis U men's volleyball team lost to the No. 7 Lewis University Flyers in three sets on Saturday night, 21-25, 22-25, 17-25.
The Red Flash (8-12, 5-4) hit just .102 as a team for the match, while the Flyers (15-6) hit .314 on the evening.
Saint Francis held the early lead in set one, but Lewis went on a 4-0 run to take an 8-7 lead. Lewis took a 21-14 lead before the Flash battled back and narrowed the margin to three at 24-21. The Flyers went on to take the set.
Again, SFU took an early lead in the second set, this time it was 7-2. Lewis battled back after a timeout and eventually went on a 5-0 run to take a 14-11 lead. SFU competed and tied the match at 20 apiece after an attack error from Lewis. The Flyers scored five of the next seven points to take the frame.
Lewis took control early in set three and SFU was not able to mount a comeback.
Logan Patterson (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) led SFU with 10 kills, while
Adam Roche (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) added seven kills and seven blocks.
Nick Bancroft (Centerville, Pa./Maplewood) led the team in digs with eight.
Saint Francis returns home to face Penn State on March 23 at 7 p.m.
