Women’s tennis runs win streak to three matches

EBENSBURG, Pa. (March 18, 2013) – The Saint Francis U women's tennis team pulled off another pair of wins over the weekend, at Coppin State on Friday and versus St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday.

Playing in cold windy conditions in Baltimore, the Red Flash women had no trouble capturing a 7-0 win against the Eagles. SFU took the doubles point within 30 minutes and held its ground in singles in all six positions.

“Playing at Coppin State is always tricky for the players,” said Flash coach Paul Tobin. “We never know how the weather will hold up and the way the courts are positioned, there is always a swirling wind. I am glad to see this did not affect our players.”

The Red Flash then welcomed Northeast Conference opponent St. Francis to the Ebensburg Tennis Center and once again had no problem dominating and sweeping the four points.

Coming out very strong in doubles, SFU took the doubles point and swept all positions. Needing only three points to secure the win, Red Flash women came through in all spots.

“We needed this win to secure our seeding position going into conference championships next month,” said Tobin. “Our practices have been demanding and the hard work is paying off.”
