BOX SCORE PRINCETON, N.J. (March 28, 2013) - The Saint Francis U men's volleyball team fell on the road to Princeton, 16-25, 20-25, 22-25, on Thursday evening.
The Red Flash (8-14, 5-6) lost to the Tigers (10-6, 8-2), who are battling for first place in the EIVA, for the second time this season.
The first set was even in the beginning and SFU led early in the frame. With the Flash down 11-10, Princeton went on to score 14 of the next 20 points to take the first set.
Saint Francis faced an early 13-7 deficit in the second set, which forced a Red Flash timeout. SFU narrowed the margin to five after a kill from
Kyle Beatty (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) at 22-17. After two attack errors from the Tigers, SFU only trailed by four at 24-20, but Princeton took the second set.
In the third set, Princeton jumped ahead early, but the Red Flash stayed with them. Princeton took a 14-11 lead and then SFU went on to score four of the next five to tie the match at 15, which forced a Tigers timeout. Out of the break, Princeton had a late 4-0 run and put the set out of reach.
Colin Sherwin (Greensburg, Pa./Greater Latrobe) led SFU with 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage for the match. Sherwin also led the team in digs with seven.
Logan Patterson (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) added eight kills and
Kyle Beatty (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) followed with seven.
Saint Francis will play George Mason tomorrow night at 7 p.m. SFU took down the Patriots at home on Feb. 23 in three sets.
