Ryan Byers (Scottdale, Pa./Southmoreland) who avoided several Bison defenders to give Ramirez an easy finish.
Saint Francis (6-1-1) grabbed an early 1-0 lead over Howard (0-8) as senior
Nick Kolarac (Pittsburgh, Pa./West Allegheny) scored his team-high seventh goal of the season. Byers squared the ball across the top of the box to
Pablo Medina (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academies), who flicked it through his legs, to Nick for a great goal past the diving Bison keeper. Kolarac jumped from ninth to fifth in goals scored on the national level; just two goals shy of leading the nation.
Howard ended
Daniel Valcicak (Herndon, Va./Gonzaga College)'s shutout with 45 seconds remaining in the game, developing off a breakaway goal by Rahman Alarape. Valcicak faced 11 shots gathering six saves and his fourth win of the season.
The Frankies dominated the Bison in shots, holding a 19-11 advantage over Howard, nearly matching their season-high (20) for shots in a game.
The Red and White had three corner kicks per half besting the Bison who mustered two each half. Howards keeper Eric Hamilton faced 19 Saint Francis shots, seven being on goal.
Kolarac and Loughnane led the team with four shots each, followed closely by Ramirez and Byers who chipped in three shots apiece.
The men's soccer team takes one day off before facing Duquesne University at the Stokes Soccerplex Sunday at 1 p.m.
