LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis running back
Khairi Dickson (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic) has been named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Performer of the Year Trophy Watch List. Dickson is one of six running backs on the 30-member list.
Â
The junior currently leads the FCS in rushing yards with 1,228. He's 210 yards ahead of the second place rusher in the nation. Dickson is also fourth in the nation in all-purpose yards per game (185.6) and 11th in rushing touchdowns with 10.
Â
Dickson was named to the Walter Payton Award watch list prior to the start of conference play. That award, given by the The Sports Network, is given to the most outstanding player in the FCS. Dickson has twice been named a CFPA Honorable Mention for his performances this season, and he was the National Running Back of the Week for his 244-yard, two-touchdown performance at then-No. 11 Fordham. Dickson has rushed for at least 125 yards in every game this season and has scored touchdowns in all but one of the Red Flash's seven games.
Â
The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous honors in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
Â
The Red Flash returns to action on Saturday when it travels to No. 24 Sacred Heart for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff. The game will be broadcast live online on ESPN3.
