NEW YORK (Feb. 11, 2014) – With contributions from up and down the lineup – including a 3-1 mark by
Alex Sachs (Parkland, Fla./Stoneman Douglas) – Saint Francis U split a pair of road matches over the weekend to remain above .500 on the season at 4-3.
The Red Flash defeated St. Francis Brooklyn 7-0 on Saturday before bowing to Drexel by a 6-1 score on Sunday.
"The women were definitely focused and determined to get their first conference win of the season. I was pleased with the business-like approach they had for the match – They started strong and finished strong," said Flash coach
Rob Castille. "Against Drexel, we were in most of the matches but just couldn't finish. I hope we take a lot of positives from this match and apply it to future matches."
Saint Francis cruised in its win over the Terriers, dropping only three points over the course of the afternoon.
Against some stiff competition on Sunday, the Red Flash earned its only singles win of the day thanks to Sachs. The junior, who is known to dabble in rapping, came back for a 1-6, 6-4, 1-0(7) at the No. 4 position.
Saint Francis is back on the road for two games next weekend. The Flash visits Colgate on Saturday (10 a.m.) and Saint Peter's on Sunday (11 a.m.).
