HAMILTON, N.Y. (Feb. 17, 2014) – The Saint Francis U women's tennis team improved to 5-2 on the spring with a 4-2 victory over Colgate on Saturday.  The match served as one last tune-up for the Red Flash before taking on three straight Northeast Conference opponents over the next two weekends.

"I am pleased with the win today," said SFU coach Rob Castille.  "The girls came out strong in doubles and winning the doubles point proved to be the difference. It took awhile for some of them to get used to the different court surface in singles but I am happy to come away with a 'W.'"

The Red Flash got off on the right foot, sweeping by sweeping doubles play to jump out to a 1-0 lead.

After the Raiders evened the team score with a win in No. 1 singles, Shivani Patel (Leicestershire, England/Repton School) got the Frankies back on track with a hard-fought win out of the No. 2 spot.

While Patel required a tie-breaking third set, Saint Francis' No. 4 Alex Sachs (Parkland, Fla./Stoneman Douglas) and No. 5 Taya Zoubareva (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest ) picked up lopsided wins to seal the team victory.
