Ripley, W. Va. (March 12, 2014) – Saint Francis U junior
Earl Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) grabbed All-Conference honors from collegehoopsdaily.com, the blog announced Tuesday afternoon.
CHD reviewed the entire season and ranked the best five players from every conference based on their statistical value.
Brown was tabbed the NEC's Most Improved Player in 2012-13, but his upward trajectory didn't slow much this season. The junior forward picked up right where he left off for the Red Flash, pulling down rebounds to the tune of 8.1 per game, the third-best mark on the circuit heading into postseason play. Brown also lifted his scoring average from 10.1 ppg to 14.5 ppg, good for eighth in the NEC. His nine double-doubles tie him for second in the league and he is the third most accurate shooter, converting 53.8 percent of his attempts.
Brown was the only member of the Saint Francis basketball team recognized by collegehoopsdaily.com. Saint Francis (10-21) ended the 2013-14 season in a heartbreaking NEC Semifinal loss to the Robert Morris Colonials (21-12), 60-57. The Red Flash reached the NEC Semifinals for the first time since their 1991 title run.
