Jeff Chastel (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) led the Saint Francis University men's golf team to a fourth place finish at the Lonnie Barton Invitational hosted by LIU Brooklyn.
The Red Flash placed fourth among the 10 teams in the tournament after posting a two-day score of 628 (319-309). All 10 teams in the invitational represented the Northeast Conference and Robert Morris came away with the team title after shooting a 594 (298-296).
Chastel finished tied for ninth overall after posting a 154 (78-76) for the tournament to lead Saint Francis U. Sophomore
Chris Stricek (Binghamton, N.Y./Windsor) finished 17th overall and second for SFU after finishing with a score of 157 (80-77).
Junior
Kevin Fawcett (London, Ontario, Canada/Oakridge Secondary) shot a 158 (80-78), good for a 21st overall finish and third for the Red Flash. Classmate
Kyle Krout (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville) recorded a 160 (81-79) to finish tied for 22nd overall.
Sophomore
Shane Crampton (London, Ontario, Canada/Saunders Secondary) finished fifth for Saint Francis and 40th overall and improved his score by 11 strokes in day two, he posted a 167 (89-78).
The defending NEC Champs return to the links on March 22-24 at the La Salle Spring Invitational in Ambler, Pa.
