Flash ousts Sacred Heart to earn first-ever NEC Semifinal berth

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (April 17, 2014) – In the only upset of the 2014 Northeast Conference Tennis Championship women's quarterfinals, #5 Saint Francis U ousted #4 Sacred Heart by a 4-2 count.
 
The Red Flash, which avenged its only NEC loss of the season, is now slated to take on top-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson at the Windsor County Tennis Center Friday.  The Pioneers defeated Saint Francis 5-2 during the regular season.
 
Aside from earning its highest seed ever, SFU advances to its first semifinal appearance in program history under first-year head coach Rob Castille.
 
After taking the doubles point to go up 1-0, Shivani Patel (Leicestershire, England/Repton School), Lucy Jasso (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Instituto Potosino) and Brittini Jentz (Plano, Texas/Ursuline Academy of Dallas) pulled out singles wins at the Nos. 2, 4 and 6 positions to clinch the team decision.
