Baltimore, Md. (4/5/2014) – The Saint Francis women's tennis team ended this weekend by sweeping Monmouth University and Coppin State University 7-0.
The Red Flash (9-4) began the weekend in West Long Branch, New Jersey were they made quick work of the Hawks (4-9).
Danielle Gryckiewicz (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Academy) and
Alex Sachs (Parkland, Fla./Stoneman Douglas) clinched No. 2 doubles for the Frankies in 8-5 fashion giving the Flash a 1-0 lead into singles.
Saint Francis dominated Monmouth in singles, the closest Hawk to victory was 6-3, 6-2.
Rafaela Panizza (Jundiai, Brazil/),
Shivani Patel (Leicestershire, England/Repton School),
Alex Sachs (Parkland, Fla./Stoneman Douglas),
Lucy Jasso (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Instituto Potosino),
Brittini Jentz (Plano, Texas/Ursuline Academy of Dallas) and
Camila Diaz (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio La Piedad) won their respective single matches. Jasso clinched the match in No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 thrashing of Kendal Kauffman.
"I thought the girls played two solid matches this weekend, said head coach
Rob Castille. "Against Monmouth, the girls played very smart in some very windy conditions. They started off strong and finished strong. In the match with Coppin State, they were very businesslike and didn't let up for a minute. I've been very pleased with how the girls have been playing and I feel we are peaking at the right time. We will look to finish the season strong this coming weekend and then get ready for NEC's."
SFU ended the weekend by picking up their tenth win of the season against Coppin State 7-0.

Taya Zoubareva (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest ) clinched doubles for the Flash 8-0.
Saint Francis mirrored their performance against Monmouth winning all single matches. Patel sealed the match winning point for the Red and White over Ashley Milo 6-1, 6-0.
Saint Francis continues play next week against Hartford and Siena in hope of extending their five match winning streak.
