LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis junior Anthony Abeid (Youngstown, Ohio/Youngstown Christian) was named to the College Football Perfomance Awards (CFPA) Punt Returner Watch List.
 
"Congratulations to Anthony Abeid (Youngstown, Ohio/Youngstown Christian) on earning a spot on this year's watch list," said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. "Abeid will be one of the top FCS punt returners to watch this season after averaging 17.25 yards per punt return last season."
 
Abeid has the third longest punt return in school history, a 51-yarder against Lincoln last season. Abeid is also the leading returning pass catcher, making 17 receptions for 204 yards as a sophomore in 2013. He joins teammates Bishop Neal (Clairton, Pa./Clairton), Lorenzo Jerome (Sunrise, Fla./J.P. Taravella), DaQuan Minter (Johnstown, Pa./Greater Johnstown) and Lance Geesey (Harrisburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) on CFPA watch lists heading into the 2014 season.
 
The initial watch list includes 34 returners vying for the top punt returner award in the Football Championship Subdivision. CFPA is in its seventh season of player and team performance recognition.
 
The Red Flash opens camp next week in preparation for the season opener at Fordham on Aug. 30 at 6:00 p.m.
