Women's Volleyball Travels to New England for NEC Showdown

LORETTO, PA- The Red Flash women's volleyball team aims to snap a three-game losing streak this weekend as they travel to the Central Connecticut Blue Devils (10-8) on Saturday at 5 p.m.

SFU travels to Rhode Island for a Sunday match-up at 1 p.m. against the Bryant Bulldogs (13-10), who are 10-0 at home this season.

ABOUT THE FLASH
Saint Francis holds a 3-17 overall record and moved to 1-4 in conference play after dropping a 2-3 decision last Saturday against Fairleigh Dickinson and a 0-3 loss to Sacred Heart last Sunday. The Red Flash rally fell short against the Knights, as SFU dropped sets of 23-25, 25-20 and 12-15. Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) led the charge for Saint Francis with 14 kills. Amelia Metzler (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield) had 45 assists while Jenna Veres (Independence, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) led the team in digs with 24. Breanna Opera (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster ) finished the match against Sacred Heart with six kills and five blocks while Metzler had 19 assists and Veres amassed 13 digs.

ABOUT THE BLUE DEVILS
The Blue Devils are off to 2-3 conference start and are 10-8 overall. Last time out, Central Connecticut fell to Bryant in three straight sets. Raquel Quirarte leads CCSU offensive-attack with 208 kills while Makenna Lommroi has a conference-high 8.94 assists per game. Rachel Fish has 238 digs on the season. CCSU leads the conference with a .169 hitting percent, and blocks with 2.65 per game. Saint Francis swept the season series last year, 2-0.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
BU is second in the NEC with a 4-1 record with their only conference loss coming to first-place Sacred Heart while 13-10 record. The Bulldogs defeated Holy Cross 3-1 on Tuesday to pickup their fourth conferences win. Bryant and Saint Francis split last year's series, 1-1. Kristin Kingi leads the Bulldogs with 238 kills while Vika Nesterov leads the squad with 599 assists and Debora Magalhaes has 433 digs on the season.
