LORETTO, PA- Selena Adamshick (Harveys Lake, Pa./Lake-Lehman) tallied a goal and an assist and the Red Flash defense held the Saint Louis Billikens to just one shot on goal in a 3-0 win at DeGol Field on Sunday.
The win improves the Flash to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the A-10 while Saint Louis drops to 0-16 and 0-6 in the A-10.
The Flash pressured early, with
Elizabeth Momeyer (Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford) putting a hard shot on goal early and SFU earning an early penalty corner.
Irene Fritschy (Zwolle, The Netherlands) looked to have scored off the corner in the 10th minute but it was ruled that the shot was taken outside the shooting zone. Minutes later,
Brea Seabrook (Wilkes Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) tallied her second goal of the weekend, collecting a loose ball and lifting it over SLU goal Tori Westhead and into the top shelf for the match's first goal.
Saint Louis would look to counter after the goal, earning a penalty corner.
Samantha Zeiders (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) would be called on to make her only save of the match, a kick save that sparked a Flash counter-attack. Off the counter-attack,
Irene Fritschy (Zwolle, The Netherlands) would be denied twice while
Brea Seabrook (Wilkes Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) had a shot stopped, but resulted in a penalty corner. Off the corner,
Selena Adamshick (Harveys Lake, Pa./Lake-Lehman) lifted the ball over the defense and the keeper, and found
Brianna Govia (St. James, Trinidad/Holy Name) who redirected the pass into the net for a 2-0 Flash lead. SFU would take the two-goal lead into the half.
Early in the second half, the Flash struck again off a corner.
Shannon Pereira (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Francis Libermann Catholic) found
Selena Adamshick (Harveys Lake, Pa./Lake-Lehman) who settled the ball and slid a shot past Westhead and into the net. With a three-goal lead, the Flash continued to pressure the Billiken defense. Adamshick hit the crossbar on a shot while Seabrook and Pereira missed wide. All told, the Flash out shot SLU 18-2 including 10-1 in shots on goal. SFU also owned a 14-1 advantage on penalty corners.
The Flash have now won three straight in conference. They will look to continue their run on Friday when they travel to Richmond to take on the Spiders, match time is set for 3pm.
