LORETTO, PA.-Â Saint Francis women's volleyball heads to Brooklyn this weekend for their first NEC road weekend of the 2015 season.Â
The Red Flash will take on St. Francis of Brooklyn on Saturday at 1pm and the LIU-Brooklyn Blackbirds on Sunday at 1pm.Â
ABOUT THE FLASHSFU is coming off a tough four-set loss to Robert Morris last Saturday in the NEC opener for both teams.
Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) currently paces the Red Flash offense, she is sixth in the conference with 169 kills, an average of 2.86 per set. Defensively,
Jenna Veres (Independence, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) leads the team and is fourth in the NEC with 241 digs, an average of just over four per set.Â
ABOUT THE TERRIERSSFBK comes into the match at 2-15 on the season and 0-2 in the NEC after losses to Bryant and Central Connecticut last weekend. The Terriers are led by Domenique Gerard, who averages nearly three kills per set. Alexa Caporuscio leads the defense, with just over three digs per set. All time, the Red Flash have dominated the match-up, winning 32 of 35 all-time meetings including both last season.Â
ABOUT THE BLACKBIRDSLIU comes into the match at 2-11 overall and 1-1 in the NEC, LIU won at Central Connecticut before losing at Bryant last weekend. The loss to the Bulldogs ended an impressive 47-match win streak against conference opponents in the regular season for LIU. The Blackbirds use a balanced offense that is led by Tamara Ignjic, who averages nearly three kils per set, but six Blackbirds average over one kill per set. Adriana Vinas Joy leads LIU and the NEC in digs with a 5.04 dig per set average. LIU has owned the all-time series, owning a 24-10 advantage including the last 23 matches.Â
