LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis men's tennis junior
Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) was selected as NEC Player of the Month for October, announced by the conference on Wednesday.
The junior posted a 3-2 record in singles in October and was selected to compete in both singles and doubles at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional.
At the Rocket Invite, hosted by Toledo, Foo-Kune won three matches while playing at the No. 1 position in the hidden-dual format. The junior defeated Wright State's Jose Pestana (6-2, 6-0), Mercyhurst's Nenad Terzic (6-4, 1-6, 10-5) and Toledo's Vince Anzalone (6-3, 6-3).
Foo-Kune was selected to participate in the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional, hosted by Yale, and competed in the main draw. Though he fell 6-2, 6-3 to Brown's Jack Haworth in the singles first round, Foo-Kune and junior
Rodrigo Tico (Guadalajara, Mexico/Colegio de Bachilleres) earned a doubles win, 8-7, over St. Bonaventure's Victor Blanco and Eduardo Irizarry in the opening round of the doubles tournament. The Red Flash duo lost a tight 8-6 match in the second round to Harvard's Nicholas Hu and Brian Yeung, ranked 37th in the ITA Poll.
The Phoenix, Mauritius native finished the fall season with a 4-4 singles mark.
"This is a nice honor for Dylan," said Head Coach
Rob Castille. "I know he's worked hard over the summer and he's starting to play really well. I'm looking forward to a solid Spring season from him.
The Saint Francis men's tennis team begins the spring season on January 16 at Navy.
