SOMERSET, N.J.-Red Flash senior outside hitter Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) has been named the Northeast Conference Defender of the Week for her efforts against St. Francis Brooklyn and LIU Brooklyn.

This is the first NEC award for Kutny this year, she earned Player of the Week in the first week of November in 2014 after victories over Bryant and Central Connecticut. 

Kutny had a match-high 21 digs in the Red Flash 3-1 victory over the Terriers of St. Francis Brooklyn. She helped hold the Terriers to a meager .106 hitting percentage, including just .048 in the fourth and deciding set. 

Against LIU Brooklyn, she added 10 more digs to give her 31 on the weekend. In the seven sets, she averaged 4.33 digs per set to lead Saint Francis. Her 3.64 digs per set average in second on the team to Jenna Veres (Independence, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) and sixth overall in the Northeast Conference. 

Saint Francis returns home this weekend for their first two-match home NEC weekend. They host Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday and Sacred Heart on Sunday. Both matches start at 1pm.
