LORETTO, Pa.  –
Chelsea Easter (Burlington, Ontario, Canada/Notre Dame Roman Catholic) added a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs, but the Saint Francis women's volleyball was unable to stop LIU Brooklyn eight-game winning streak on Sunday at DeGol Arena. The Red Flash dropped sets of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-14. SFU is now 4-21 overall and 2-8 in the Northeast Conference.

Breanna Opera (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster ) finished with eight kills, while
Maria Cup (Chesterland, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) added seven.
Amelia Metzler (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield) led the Red Flash with 30 assists, while contributing with 10 digs.
Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) had a team-high 15 digs.

In the opening set, it was a back-and-forth frame with the Blackbirds. The Flash opened up with a 5-4 advantage, but LIU strung together a couple of runs in the middle of the match. The Blackbirds scored six of the last seven points to close out the match, 25-18. The Red Flash's Kunty finished with four kills and eight digs.

In an entertaining second set, the Flash pulled ahead, 3-2, but the Blackbirds went on a 3-0 run to go up on SFU, 5-3. Saint Francis cut LIU's lead to 12-11, however, the Blackbirds could not be held off the scoreboard. LIU would pad to their advantage in the middle of the set to go up, 19-14. The Red Flash would not go out quietly towards the end of the set. A kill by Cup pulled SFU within two, but the Blackbirds would score three of the last four points to win, 25-21. Cup and Easter added five kills apiece, and Metzler had 13 assists.
Jenna Veres (Independence, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) led the Flash with six digs in the set.

Just like Saturday's match against Saint Francis Brooklyn, the Red Flash started hot in the third set, and quickly jumped out to a 6-2 lead. The Blackbirds retook the lead after a 4-0 run to pull ahead, 16-11. LIU scored nine of the last 11 points to close out the match, 25-14. Easter finished with four kills, while Metzler added six assists and six digs.

The Red Flash travel to Fairleigh Dickinson next weekend for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday and a 1 p.m. match against Sacred Heart on Sunday.
