WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (April 18, 2015) - For the second consecutive season, the Saint Francis U men's tennis team advanced to the NEC Semifinals, but was taken down by the higher-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson Knights. FDU won the match 4-0.

"This is a disappointing way to end our season. Fairleigh Dickinson is a very strong team and there's a reason why they've had so much success in the past. We needed to come out today and not only play well, but compete at our best. Unfortunately, today was not our best day. All credit goes to FDU who played an excellent match from the start and never let us into the match," said SFU head coach Rob Castille.

The Red Flash were winning at No. 2 doubles as Chris Jimenez (Bayside, N.Y./St. Francis Preparatory) and Sergio Carvajal (Nueva Esparta, Venezuela/U.E. Fray Elias Maria Sendra) were up 7-4, but because of losses at No. 1 and No. 3, they did not finish their match, and FDU won the doubles point.

Freshman Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) put up a strong effort at No. 3 singles, but did not finish his match against FDU's Adam Chan. Washi Gervais (Longueuil, Quebec/College Stanislas) fought hard at No. 1, but fell 6-4 in the first set, his match was not needed to be finished either.

Saint Francis finishes the 2015 campaign with a nearly even record at 8-9.

"For those players returning, we'll evaluate things and move forward and improve on many aspects of our play. Making the semi-finals for the second straight year is something that has never been done before here at SFU. We are proud of that but now we want to take that next step. I'm confident that with the group of guys we have coming back and some solid new freshmen coming in, the future is bright here at Saint Francis!" Castille continued.
