MONROEVILLE, Pa. (April 3, 2015) – The Saint Francis U women's tennis team closed out its home schedule with a tough fought match against Dayton and fell, 5-2, on Friday afternoon.
"This is probably the best Dayton women's team I have seen, so I was pleased with how our women played and competed against them today," said SFU head coach
Rob Castille.
Shivani Patel (Leicestershire, England/Repton School) won at No. 2 singles quite handily for the Red Flash, 6-0, 6-1.
Lucy Jasso (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Instituto Potosino) picked up the other singles point for SFU at No. 6 as she won 7-5, 7-5.
The lone doubles point for SFU came at No. 1 as Patel and
Rafaela Panizza (Jundiai, Brazil) won 6-3.
"We were in most of the matches and had our opportunities. I think we let the doubles point slip away, which was disappointing, but the women put that behind them and came out firing in singles. We'll tweak a few things for next weekend, but I definitely like the way we are playing at the moment," Castille continued.
Saint Francis hits the road to close out the regular season against Morgan State and Howard next weekend.
