BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Saint Francis women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 result on Saturday at Buffalo.  The Bulls took the doubles point and singles matches at the top four spots.  The Red Flash fell to 0-4 this season.
 
The Red Flash's Rafaela Panizza (Jundiai, Brazil) and Brittany Plaszewski (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) competed at the top doubles spot against the Bulls' Dayana Agasieva and Margarita Kotok.  However, the Buffalo pair won 6-4.
 
At the No. 2 doubles position, senior Dani Gryckiewicz (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Academy) and Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) matched up against Laura Holterbosch and Mercedes Losada Rubio, but fell 6-4.
 
Buffalo won the match at No. 3 by default, due to no SFU players available.
 
"I was very pleased with how we competed and played today, especially in doubles," said Head Coach Rob Castille. "This was probably the best we've looked all year in doubles. There are things we need to get better, but this was a solid effort against a very good Buffalo team."
 
Panizza, a senior, competed against the Bulls' Tanja Stojanovska at the top singles spot, but dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision. 
 
At the No. 2 position, Plaszewski, a junior, took on Chantal Martinez Blanco.  However, Plaszewski fell 6-1, 6-2.  She finished 1-1 on the weekend, playing both matches at No. 2.
 
Gryckiewicz matched up with Holterbosch at the No. 3 spot.  The Red Flash senior fell 6-2, 6-0.
 
At the fourth spot in the lineup, Miller competed against Buffalo's Sanjana Sudhir, but dropped a 6-1, 6-3 result.
 
Buffalo won the matches at No. 5 and No. 6 by default, due to no SFU players available.
 
"In singles, we fought hard and were in a lot of the games," said Castille. "But we had a few too many errors at key moments, which were costly.  I think we can take a lot of positives from today.  We'll take these next two weeks to work on several things."
 
The Red Flash return to action on Saturday, February 6 for a 3 p.m. match at Lafayette.  That Sunday, SFU also competes against Lehigh at 10 a.m.
