AMHERST, Mass. – The Saint Francis field hockey team surrendered three-second half goals to Massachusetts and fell, 3-0, at the Gladchuk Field Hockey Complex on Sunday. Â

UMass (6-5; 2-0) held the SFU (7-5; 1-2) offense in check, outshooting the Flash 21-3 and held a 6-1 advantage in penalty corners.

Despite UMass firing off 10 shots in the first half, neither team could get on the scoreboard.

Saint Francis would get a chance early in the second half, but
Hannah Retherford (Benton, Pa./Benton)'s shot was turned away by Emily Hazard.

UMass broke the stalemate in the 42nd minute off a Sarah Hawkshaw goal. Hawkshaw scored off a penalty corner from Hailey Cockrum. Nichole Miller put UMass up 2-0 in the 61st minute. Izzie Delario gave UMass a three-goal lead in the 66th minute after she snuck a shot through the Saint Francis defense.
