DAVIDSON, N.C. – Despite two goals from Brea Seabrook (Wilkes Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial), the Saint Francis field hockey team dropped a 4-3 decision to the Davidson Wildcats on Friday night at Carol Grotnes Belk Field.

Saint Francis (7-6; 1-3) had an opportunity in the opening minutes of the first half as Carly Gromel (Harveys Lake, Pa./Lake-Lehman) fired a shot on goal, but was turned away by Davidson goalkeeper Bean Rodriguez. The Wildcats opened the scoring in the ninth minute as Hannah Fisher tipped in a shot from Becca Jones.

Davidson (3-10; 1-3) extended its lead to two goals in the 21st minute as Kristin Kisa dribbled down the field and scored from 10 yards out. Katherine English was awarded with the assist.

Seabrook would answer just three minutes into the second half, getting the Flash on the board. Seabrook scored off a pass from Brianna Govia (St. James, Trinidad/Holy Name) in the middle of the arc and found the left side of the cage.

In the 45th minute, Anne Federico fed Lauren McFayden to make it 3-1 Wildcats. It would stay 3-1 for the next three minutes until Davidson struck again. In the 48th minute, English capitalized on a penalty corner to put the Wildcats ahead, 4-1.

Saint Francis stormed back, scoring two unanswered goals to pull within one. Seabrook snuck one in off a SFU penalty corner. The sophomore's second goal of the contest came in the 52nd minute. Shannon Pereira (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Francis Libermann Catholic) was created with the assist.

The Flash continued to fight, as Hannah Retherford (Benton, Pa./Benton) fielded a pass from Kelli Connolly (Laurel Springs, N.J./Camden Catholic) with 13 minutes remaining in the match. Saint Francis would continue to pressure, earing two penalty corners within 13 second of each other, but could not convert. Kali Thies (Newton, N.J./Hackettstown) had a chance to send the match into overtime as the clock expired, but her shot missed wide.

Davidson outshot Saint Francis, 12-8, including 8-6 in shots on goal. The Flash held a 9-8 advantage in penalty corners.

Saint Francis will look to bounce back on Sunday against App State at noon.
