ST. LOUIS – The Saint Francis field hockey team rode three second half goals to earn a 3-0 win over Saint Louis at the Scott Gallagher Soccer Park on Sunday.

Saint Louis (2-11, 0-5) pressed early, looking to get on the scoreboard first but the Red Flash strong defense did not back down. Elizabeth Dyer (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) saved the only shot she faced to keep the first half scoreless. The Billikens registered five shots and earned four penalty corners in the first half.

Saint Francis (10-7, 3-4) wasted little time to get on the scoreboard in the second half. Hannah Retherford (Benton, Pa./Benton) found the back of the net in the 36th minute, taking a Shannon Pereira (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Francis Libermann Catholic) pass to beat Meme Dawson. SFU would continue to pressure following a Flash goal, earning a pair of penalty corners.

Govia scored her first goal of the match to give the Flash a 2-0 lead after receiving a pass from Brea Seabrook (Wilkes Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial). Seventeen minutes later Govia scored her second of the day unassisted and the Flash took a 3-0 lead over the Billikens.

Dyer turned away the only shot the Billikens recorded on goal to earn her fourth shutout of the season.  Saint Louis owed a 9-7 edge in shots and held an 8-4 advantage in penalty corners.

Saint Francis returns home on Friday for a 3 p.m. match-up with the La Salle Explorers.
