LORETTO – The No. 15 Saint Francis men's volleyball travels to Sacred Heart on Friday and Harvard on Saturday for two EIVA conference games.
ABOUT THE FLASHThe Flash holds a 5-4 overall record and look for their first win in conference play. SFU is currently ranked No. 15 in this weeks ACVCA Division I-II Men's Coaches Top 15 Poll. Saint Francis is coming off a weekend sweep against Lees-McRae and Pfeiffer. The Red Flash cruised to a 3-1 victory over the Bobcats last Friday. SFU had to rally from down two games to none to defeat the Falcons, 3-2, for head coach
Mike Rumbaugh's 200th career victory.
Jeff Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) holds down the No. 1 spot in the EIVA in kills with 110, while
Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) is fourth in the conference in kills with 105 and is third in digs with 61.
Mike Marshman (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) ranks first in the conference and fifth in the NCAA with a .468 hitting percentage. His 0.91 blocks per set ranks him fourth in the conference. Marshman was named EIVA Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Lees-McRae and Pfeiffer last week.
Daniel Ford (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North)'s 9.61 assists per set ranks him third in the conference.
As a team, the Flash leads the conference in multiple categories: assist (397), kills (425), total attacks (969), service aces (43), digs (300), block assists (116) and points (532.0).
ABOUT THE PIONEERThe Pioneers are winless on the season and are currently on a seven-game losing streak. SHU is 0-7 overall and 0-0 in conference. Sacred Heart is coming off a 2-3 loss to Stevens Tech last Friday.
Joshua Ayzenberg is fourth in the EIVA in digs with 59, while Michael Comens' 79 kills lead the Pioneers and averages 3.04 kills per set. Eduardo Zardo comes into the matchup with 173 assists and averages 8.24 assists per set. Taylor Bloomquist leads Sacred Heart with 24 total blocks and ranks second in the conference in blocks per set with 1.04.
The Flash holds a 14-2 all time advantage over the Pioneers, including an eight-game winning streak. Saint Francis swept the two-game series last season.
ABOUT THE CRIMSONThe Crimson is 3-4 overall and 0-0 in the EIVA conference. Harvard fell in the Morgan Classic championship to Springfield College, 3-2, last Saturday after defeating Puerto Rico Mayaguez, 3-1, last Friday to advance to the championship match.
Casey White ranks second in the EIVA in digs per set with 2.37, while Branden Clemens is fifth with 2.00 digs per set. White leads the conference in digs with 64. Clemens is third in the EIVA in hitting percentage with .329. Trevor Dow is fifth in the conference in blocks per set with 0.88. Marko Kostich's 10.04 assists per set are second in the conference.
Saint Francis trails the all time series against Harvard, 7-8. The two teams split last season's series, 1-1, with the Flash taking the last game, 3-1.
