Men's Volleyball Looks to Bounce Back Against Lees-McRae, Pfieffer

LORETTO, Pa. – The No. 15 Saint Francis men's volleyball team looks to bounce back against the Lees-McRae Bobcats on Friday and the Pfeiffer Falcons on Saturday for two-nonconference matches. Friday's match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., while Saturday's match is set for 7 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE FLASH
Saint Francis is 3-4 overall and is 0-1 in the EIVA. The Flash is coming off a 0-3 loss to No. 9 Penn State last Friday. Senior Mike Marshman (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) leads the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association with a .500 hitting percentage and ranks fourth in the NCAA in the same category. Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) is tied for second in the conference with 81 kills, while Jeff Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) trails Braswell by only one kill. Gabe Woffindin (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) makes his first-ever appearance on the EIVA's top-five list. Woffindin's 2.00 digs per set ranks him fifth in the conference. Daniel Ford (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) is third in the EIVA with 9.56 assists per set. As a team, the Flash are ranked 11th in the NCAA in digs per set with 8.63.
 
ABOUT THE BOBCATS
The Bobcats enters Friday's matchup on a five-game losing streak and is 0-5 overall and is 0-5 in the Conference Carolinas. The Bobcats dropped a 0-3 decision to Erskine on Tuesday. John Sobel leads the Bobcats with 59 kills on the season, and has amassed 67.5 points. Drew Blecher leads the squad with 139 assists, while Keenan Freitas leads LMC with 38 digs. The Bobcats hold a 3-1 series edge over the Flash, and have won the last two meetings over the SFU.
 
ABOUT THE FALCONS
Pfieffer comes into Loretto with a perfect 5-0 record and is 5-0 in the Conference Carolinas, and is currently first in the division. The Falcons knocked of Belmont Abbey on Tuesday – for their first loss of the season, 3-2. Jonathan Martinez is third in the CC with 4.14 kills per set, while Sonny Hirini is fifth in the conference with 3.76 kills per set. Martinez ranks fourth in the conference in overall kills with 87. Evan Blair is second in the CC with 1.13 blocks per set and ranks 13th nationally. Harrison Lutz is third in the conference with 11.38 assists per set and ranks second in the conference with 239 assists. Lutz holds on to the No. 4 spot in the NCAA in assists per set.
 
NEXT TIME OUT
The Flash hits the road next weekend as they take on Sacred Heart on Friday and Harvard on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.
