LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis men's and women's tennis teams, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, will wrap up their home schedule on Friday against Duquesne. Both matches will be played at Alpha Tennis and Fitness in Harmar, Pa., beginning at 9 a.m.
Men's tennis'
Washi Gervais (Longueuil, Quebec/College Stanislas) and women's tennis'
Dani Gryckiewicz (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Academy) and
Rafaela Panizza (Jundiai, Brazil) will be honored on senior day.
Gervais is 9-3 this year in singles and owns 51 career wins. He has won 55 percent of his matches during his time at Saint Francis. He has also combined with sophomore
Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) this year for a 10-2 mark at No. 1 doubles. Gervais has 40 career doubles victories.
Gryckiewicz leads the SFU women's team with five singles wins this spring and is 8-8 overall. In her career, Gryckiewicz has 34 wins. She has seven doubles wins this year, combining with freshman
Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School), freshman
Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) and Panizza. Gryckiewicz owns 49 career doubles wins.
Panizza has three singles wins this year and 38 overall. She has paired with Gryckiewicz and junior
Brittany Plaszewski (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) for six doubles wins this year. Panizza has 47 doubles wins in her time at Saint Francis.
The Red Flash men's team is 8-4 this season. After being off for two weeks, the team returns to the court. The Red Flash defeated Hartford, 7-0, and St. Bonaventure, 5-2, two weekends ago.
Gervais leads the team with nine wins this spring, all coming at No. 1. Junior
Plamen Avuski (Plovdiv, Bulgaria /Math High School ) and freshman
Jan Vit Suntar (Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Slovenia/Gimnazija Kranj) each have seven wins, while Foo-Kune and junior
Eli Cerdan (Bloomfield, N.J. /Saint Mary High School) each have six.
Avuski and Suntar have combined for a 9-3 mark this spring, while Cerdan and freshman
Robin van der Heijden (Burgh Haamstede, Netherlands/Scheldmond College) are 2-1.
The Duquesne men's tennis team is 5-9 this season. Last weekend, they lost 5-2 to St. Joseph's and 4-0 to Davidson. The Dukes have wins over Carnegie Mellon (5-2), Mercyhurst (8-1), Niagara (5-0), George Mason (6-1) and St. Bonaventure (6-1).
Corey Robinson leads Duquesne with 13 singles wins, including eight this spring at the top spot.
The Red Flash women's team is 3-9 this year. It last played on March 12-13, when they defeated Hartford, 6-1, but fell to St. Bonaventure, 6-1.
Bode, Miller and Plaszewski each have four singles wins, while junior
Brittini Jentz (Plano, Texas/Ursuline Academy of Dallas) has two victories.
In doubles, Panizza and Plaszewski are 4-6 this spring, while Bode and Gryckiewicz are 4-4. Jentz and Miller have combined for a 3-3 mark.
The Duquesne women's team is 10-4 this season. Last weekend, they knocked off St. Joseph's, 6-1, but dropped a 4-0 result to Davidson.
Kylie Isaacs is 23-3 overall for the Dukes, including a 13-1 record this spring at No. 1. Isaacs and Julianne Herman are 12-1 at the top doubles spot.
