Men's Volleyball Hosts Sacred Heart, Harvard This Weekend

LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis men's volleyball faces off against Sacred Heart and Harvard this weekend for the last homestand of the season. The Flash takes on the Pioneers on Friday at 7 p.m. and squares off against the Crimson on Saturday for Senior Day at 4 p.m.
 
Saint Francis will honor seniors Ray Frazer (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg), Mike Marshman (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central), Xavier Krause (Butler, Pa./Butler) and Drew Grehan (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) in a pre-match ceremony on Saturday.
 
ABOUT THE FLASH
 
The Flash has won 10 of their last 12 games. During that span, SFU has knocked off two ranked opponents in Penn State and Loyola-Chicago. Saint Francis enters the weekend's matchups with a 15-8 overall record and is 6-4 in the EIVA. The Flash currently sits tied for fourth in the conference. Saint Francis is coming off a weekend split against NJIT and Princeton. The Flash fell to NJIT, 2-3, and defeated Princeton, 3-2. Jeff Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) paced the Flash offense with 30 kills in the two-game span and Marshman finished the weekend with 15 total blocks.

Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) and Hogan ranks in the top 5 in the EIVA in kills. Braswell is fifth in the conference in digs with 142, while Gabe Woffindin (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) ranks fourth with 178. Marshman currently leads the conference in hitting percentage with a .391, and ranks 12th in the NCAA. He is currently tied for second in the EIVA with one block per set. Daniel Ford (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North)'s 9.80 assists per set ranks fourth in the EIVA.

Marshman was named EIVA Defensive Player of the Week after recording a total of 15 blocks in 10 sets last weekend.

Marshman tallied 11 total blocks in a 3-2 victory against Princeton. Against NJIT, Marshman would finish with four total blocks in a five set loss. He averaged 1.5 blocks per set for the week.

ABOUT THE PIONEERS

SHU is coming off a sweep against George Mason last weekend. Sacred Heart is 6-12 overall and is 6-4 in the conference and is tied with Saint Francis for the fourth overall seed in the EIVA. Austin Arcala ranks fifth in the EIVA in kills per set (3.70). Joshua Ayzenberg leads the Pioneers' defense. The sophomore averages 2.63 digs per set, which is second in the conference and is third in digs with 187. SHU swept SFU in their only matchup this season. The Flash owns the all-time series against the Pioneers, 14-3.

ABOUT THE CRIMSON
 
Harvard owns an 11-8 overall record and is 7-3 in the EIVA. The Crimson is coming off a weekend sweep against Charleston. Harvard's head coach Brian Baise earned his 100th-career win in the Crimson second match victory against Charleston. Harvard enters Saturday's matchup with the best hitting percentage in the EIVA (.309). Branden Clemens leads the team in kills (255), his 3.75 kills per set ranks fourth and his .328 hitting percentage is third in the EIVA.  Casey White's 2.25 digs per set is good enough for fifth in the conference, while Riley Moore averages 0.95 blocks per set, which is fourth in the EIVA. Brad Gretch's 0.40 service aces is second in the conference, while Marko Kostich averages 10.09 assists per set, which is third in the EIVA. The Crimson swept the Flash on Feb. 13. Harvard leads the all-time series, 9-7.

Saint Francis heads to George Mason and the University of Charleston next weekend to conclude the 2016 regular season. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.
