DAYTON, Ohio - The Saint Francis women's tennis team fell, 6-1, against Wright State on Friday at the South Regency Tennis and Fitness Center. The Red Flash dropped the doubles point and won one singles match. SFU is now 4-12 on the season.
At the top doubles position, senior
Rafaela Panizza (Jundiai, Brazil) and junior
Brittany Plaszewski (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) matched up against Taylor Culbertson and Tori Turner. However, the SFU pair fell 6-3.
Freshman
Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) and senior
Dani Gryckiewicz (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Academy) competed at No. 2 against Karoline Haller and Linsey Verstrepen. The Red Flash duo lost 6-0.
Wright State won the match at No. 3 by default due to no SFU player available.
At the third singles spot, Bode took on Vanessa Madrigal. The SFU rookie won the first set, 6-4. She completed a straight-set victory with a 6-0 second set. It was her sixth win this spring.Â
Panizza competed at the top singles spot against WSU's Haller. The Red Flash senior fell 6-3, 6-3.
In the matchup at No. 2, Plaszewski met Verstrepen. The SFU junior dropped a 7-5, 6-4 decision.
At the fourth position, freshman
Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) faced the Raiders' Turner. The SFU rookie was downed, 6-0, 6-1.
Gryckiewicz competed at No. 5 against Aby Madrigal. The SFU senior fell 6-1, 6-1.
Wright State won the match at No. 6 due to no SFU player available.
The Red Flash takes on Dayton on Saturday. The match begins at 4 p.m. at the Five Seasons Sports Club.Â
