Hero Sports Preseason All-America Team
LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis senior kicker
Lance Geesey (Harrisburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) picked up another Preseason All-America honor, this time being named First Team by HERO Sports.Â
Â
The Harrisburg native has accumulated an impressive list of preseason accolades. Earlier this week, he was named to the Fred Mitchell Award Watch List. He has also received Preseason All-America honors from College Sports Madness, Football Gamelan and STATS FCS.
Â
The preseason recognition comes after winning the CFPA Placekicker of the Year award in 2015 and being named a Postseason All-American by the FCS Athletics Directors' Association and the American Football Coaches Association.Â
Â
Geesey led the FCS last season in field goal percentage, hitting 16-of-17 attempts (94%). He placed fifth in the FCS and led the Northeast Conference in field goals made per game (1.6) and topped the league in points with 76. Entering 2016, Geesey needs just one field goal to tie the NEC career mark of 46 makes, held by Sacred Heart's Chris Rogers (2008-11).
Â
The Red Flash, led by
Chris Villarrial, opens the 2016 season on September 3 at No. 13 Montana. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET against the Grizzlies, who reached the Second Round of the FCS Playoffs last season.
