LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Saint Francis field hockey team fell to Rider, 3-0, on Friday afternoon at Ben Cohen Field.

The Flash (6-3) had their chances early in the first half coming off two penalty corners but could not connect. Rider opened the scoring in the 7th minute off a Carlie Spaeder goal. Spaeder sprinted down the field after a 60-yard pass from Melissa Cunningham.

Saint Francis had their best opportunity in the first half when
Hannah Retherford (Benton, Pa./Benton) recorded a shot on goal, but was turned away by Rider's Grace Huff. It would be 1-0 at the half.

Three minutes into the second half, Rider (5-4) added to their lead. Daane Koch scored off a rebound by Spaeder. The Broncs would add an insurance goal in the 53rd minute as Allison Baligian scored off a scrum in font of the goal. Spaeder was credited with the assist.Â

The Broncs led in shots 17-6, while the Red Flash led 8-6 in penalty corners.
