LORETTO, Pa. – Former Saint Francis men's volleyball player
Mike Marshman (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) has signed with the Raision Lomiu Flame of the Volleyball Championship League in Finland.
Â
"I know it was a long time career goal for Marsh, and I am happy for him," said head coach
Mike Rumbaugh.

The Flame is the most successful Finland volleyball club. Raision Lomiu has won six Finnish Championships (1982, 1983, 1984, 1990, 1997 and 2001). Marshman has already won a starting spot, and is contributing on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
"I was honestly a little worried at first. We have a middle from the Finnish junior national team and another American, Taylor Gregory, both are incredible players which is great because we all do a great job of trying to really challenge each other in practice," said Marshman.
Marshman finished his Saint Francis career with 596 kills and 304 blocks. His 304 blocks ranks him sixth in program history. In his senior season, he led the EIVA in hitting percentage (.403). He earned three All-EIVA selections throughout his career. Last season, Marshman garnered AVAC All-American Honorable Mention honors.
"The competition here is very good, I've faced a few top tier teams already, including VaLePa who another American Tommy Carmody plays for, and I'm finding out that you have to play smart and not relay on your athleticism," contiuned Marshman. "Luckily I have a phenomenal setter that knows when to set the middle at the right time and it has been helping me hit much more efficiently than in college. Also, nobody really knows who I am here so that helps me out, too."
