LORETTO, PA-Â Â Former Saint Francis guard
Greg Brown (Odenton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) has signed a deal with Campo Mourao of Novo Basquete Brazil, the top basketball league in Brazil.
"I am very excited for Greg and his family. Greg's numbers improved every year during his time at Saint Francis," Saint Francis head coach
Rob Krimmel said. "His work ethic and dedication to the team concept allowed him to be a 3 year captain for us. He fully embraced being a student - athlete and know that he will enjoy success at the next level. "
Brown filled the stat sheet as a senior, averaging 12.8 points 3.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds as he helped lead Saint Francis to a NEC tournament berth. The senior also excelled in the classroom, graduating with a 3.53 GPA in management information systems. He was awarded the Northeast Conference Winter Scholar Athlete award as well as being named Academic All-District.Â
Following his senior season, Brown got on the international basketball radar when he suited up for team Munich in the Eurobasket summer league in Portsmouth, Ohio. His performance drew the attention of Campo Mourao, a team located in the south-central part of the country and is coming off a Gold League Title in Brazil, that came with a promotion to Brazil's top league.Â
"Campo Mourao is getting a winner in every sense of the word," Coach Krimmel added. " Like he did at Saint Francis, Greg will be a great representative of the team on and off the court. "
Novo Basquete Brazil has produced NBA players such as Leandro Barbosa and Nene, its season will start this fall.Â
