STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore Isaiah Blackmon (Charlotte, N.C./West Charlotte) scored a career-high 25 points to lead the Saint Francis men's basketball team to a 72-67 win at Wagner on Thursday at the Spiro Sports Center.  The Red Flash outscored the Seahawks, 43-33, in the second half and got a few clutch buckets from Blackmon to help close out the victory.  SFU improved to 8-12 overall and 5-4 in NEC play as Wagner dropped to 8-11 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

The Red Flash earned its first win at Wagner since January 19, 2006, breaking a nine-game losing streak in Staten Island.  It is also SFU's third road win in NEC play this season.

Blackmon returned to the starting lineup after sitting out the last three games with an injury.  He provided a big boost to the lineup with a career-high 25 points, on 10-of-14 shooting, and tied a career-high with four made threes.  He scored 11 points in the first half and 14 in the second half, including nine points in the final five minutes of the game.  He collected five rebounds, three assists and two steals.  Senior Georgios Angelou (Halkida, Greece/Lykeio Kanithou) connected on four threes for 12 points on the day, while sophomore Josh Nebo (Houston, Texas/Cypress Lakes) added 12 points, on six-of-nine shooting, six rebounds and three blocks.

Sophomore Jamaal King (Salisbury, Md./Bishop O'Connell (Va.)) had 10 points, two rebounds and three assists, while freshman Keith Braxton (Glassboro, N.J./The Lawrenceville School) filled the stat sheet with eight points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.

With three blocks on the day, Nebo now has 102 for his career.  He is just three blocks away from tying Earl Brown (2012-15) and Emmanuel Adekunle (1994-98) for third all-time at SFU.  Nebo has 43 blocks this season.

Saint Francis shot 47 percent in the game, hitting 29-of-61 shots, including 10-of-22 from three for a 45 percent clip from beyond the arc.  SFU was also four-of-six from the free throw line.  SFU made 55 percent of its shot attempts in the second half, going 6-of-12 from three.

Wagner was led by Corey Henson's 18 points as the junior hit six threes and added three rebounds.  Senior Michael Carey contributed 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists and a steal, while junior JoJo Cooper had seven points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

The Seahawks shot 44 percent from the floor, making 28-of-63 looks, and went 9-of-19 from three (47 percent).  Wagner won the battle on the boards, 38-29, and turned 14 rebounds into 16 second-chance points.

The Red Flash trailed 34-29 at halftime.  Saint Francis shot 40 percent in the first half, making 12-of-30 attempts.  SFU was also 40 percent from three, hitting 4-of-10 from beyond the arc.

The Seahawks jumped out to a 9-5 lead in to start the game, with a pair of layups by Mike Aaman, a layup by Carey and a three by Henson.  However, a layup by Braxton and a layup and free throw by Blackmon gave SFU a 10-9 advantage with 13:54 to go in the half.

After a layup by Sumbry and a three by Blake Francis, the Red Flash answered with a three by Angelou and a jumper by Randall Gaskins Jr. to keep a 15-13 lead with 12:12 remaining in the half.

A jumper by Carey and a three by Francis brought Wagner back within one, 59-58 with 5:11 left but a layup by Blackmon pushed SFU's lead back up to three.  Carey then hit a jumper, answered by a layup by Braxton to give SFU a 63-60 lead with 4:13 to go.

A dunk by Carey and then a jumper on the next possession gave Wagner its first lead, 64-63, since the 16:20 mark of the second half.

Blackmon answered with a three from the corner on a pass from Braxton along the baseline to put SFU back in front, 66-64, with 2:16 to go.  A steal and layup by Blackmon a minute later pushed the SFU lead to 68-64 with 1:10 left.

Henson connected on a three to bring the Seahawks within one, 68-67, but Blackmon again came up clutch with a layup to extend the lead to three with 18 seconds to go.

With only four team fouls at that point, SFU fouled twice on the next Wagner possession to drain the clock to just seven seconds to go.

After a timeout by SFU, Braxton stole the inbounds pass at midcourt and finished with a layup at the other end to seal the victory.
