ITA Regional Brackets
 
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Saint Francis Men's Tennis team wrapped up the first day of action at the ITA Northeast Regional, hosted by Yale, on Wednesday.  The tournament continues on Thursday with Main Draw Singles and Doubles after today's Qualifying Singles Draw.
 
Freshman Charles Morkel (Cape Town, South Africa/Paul Roos Gymnasium) met Army's Greg Shannon in his first round match.  The Red Flash rookie claimed the opening set, 6-1.  He clinched a straight-set victory with a 7-5 win in the second set.  Morkel moved onto the second round, where he faced Boston's Marc Sable.  However, Morkel fell 6-4, 6-4.  He is 4-2 this Fall.
 
Fellow rookie Arturo Dell'eva (Verona, Italy/Sanchez Casal Tennis Academy) competed against Army's Joseph Myles Conlin in the opening round of Qualifying Singles.  Dell'eva dropped the first set, 6-4, but bounced back to win the next set, 6-2.  In the deciding set, Conlin came out on top, 7-6, including 7-5 in the tiebreaker.  Dell'eva is 2-2 in tournament play.
 
Senior Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) took on St. John's Ognjen Trejgut in the first round.  After falling 6-2 in the first set, Foo-Kune responded by dominating the second set, 6-0.  In the final set, Foo-Kune fell 6-3.  He is 4-4 this Fall.
 
Sophomore Franz Luna (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Laurel Springs) will begin his tournament on Thursday in the Singles Main Draw.  He will face Fordham's Fabian Mauritzson in the First Round.
 
Foo-Kune and Morkel will pair up in the Doubles Main Draw, where they will take on Sacred Heart's Seiji Hosokowa and Cory Seltman in the opening round.
