Swimming Hosts Wagner for First NEC Match-Up

Loretto, Pa. - The Red Flash host Wagner College on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Red Flash will compete against the Seahawks in its first NEC match-up of the season.
 

The Red Flash won seven events last year against the Seahawks, six of which were Freestyle events. Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's), Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen), and Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol) each recorded individual wins for the Flash.
 

Quon started off the momentum in the Freestyle events recording the first Red Flash win in the 1000 Freestyle. She touched the wall in a time of 10:38.86. This time was five seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Quon also won the 500 Freestyle in commanding fashion, touching the wall four and a half seconds ahead of second place. Quon touched in a time of 5:10.85.
 

Lafferty touched the wall first in all three of her individual events against the Seahawks last year, starting with the 200 Freestyle. She touched the wall in a time of 1:55.08. Lafferty then went on to win the 50 Freestyle, where she sprinted to the wall in a time of 24.33. In the last individual Freestyle event of the day, the 100 Freestyle,  Lafferty swam a pace of 53.11 to touch the wall first.
 

Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's) recorded the only non-freestyle event win for the Flash versus the Seahawks at their match-up last season. Bowman won the 100 Butterfly in a time of 58.08, winning by nearly a full second.
 

In the last event of the meet, the 400 Freestyle Relay, the Red Flash finished with another Freestyle event win. The Flash won the relay in a time of 3:34.27.
