LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis women's team heads East for matches at Temple and Lehigh this weekend. The Red Flash meets the Owls on Saturday at 2 p.m. and the Mountain Hawks on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, is 3-5 this Spring after a 6-1 win over Lafayette last Saturday. The Red Flash won five of six singles points and won the doubles point with two wins.
Freshman
Kathryn Dunleavy (Farmington Hills, Mich./Mercy) and sophomore
Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) share the team-lead with five wins this Spring. Dunleavy has collected her five wins at No. 5, while Miller has played at No. 3 and No. 4.
Sophomore
Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) and freshman
Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) are both 4-4 in dual matches. Bode has played at No. 3 and 4, with all of Seigford's matches at No. 2. Freshman
Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) has won two straight matches at the top singles spot.
In doubles, Gutierrez and Miller combined for the first time last week, resulting in a win at No. 1. Bode and Dunleavy played at No. 2, also pairing up for the first time this year, and won their match.
Temple is 6-4 this Spring, with wins over Iowa State (4-2), Morgan State (5-0), Longwood (5-0), Villanova (5-0), Fairleigh Dickinson (7-0) and UConn (4-3). The Owls meet James Madison on Friday before taking on Saint Francis on Saturday.
Lehigh is 1-2 this season. The Mountain Hawks defeated Stony Brook, 6-1, last weekend after starting the season with setbacks against Iowa State (6-1) and Drexel (5-2). Lehigh competes against Mount St. Mary's on Saturday before facing the Red Flash on Sunday.
